Trent Alexander-Arnold has made it clear who he wants to replace Gareth Southgate as England manager after he left.
Southgate stepped down as England manager less than 48 hours after their Euro 2024 final defeat to Spain last weekend.
He has been in the position for nearly eight years, taking over in September 2016.
Alexander-Arnold has won 29 senior caps, all under Southgate, and the 25-year-old told The Ufabet this week he was “very grateful”.
Alexander-Arnold also says Southgate is underrate – but who would the Liverpool star want to see take over from him?
Questions over Southgate’s possible replacement also arose following Alexander-Arnold’s conversation with The Ufabet and Jurgen Klopp’s name was also in the mix.
Klopp handed Alexander-Arnold his first taste of Liverpool football in 2016 and together they have won seven different trophies, Promotion ufabet including the Premier League, the Champions League and the Club World Cup.
Asked about Klopp’s possible England job, Alexander-Arnold said: “I’ve enjoyed every moment working with him. We share amazing memories, forged an incredible relationship, an incredible bond.”
“Of course, if that happens, we will pick up where we left off.”
However, he add, “I would be surprise if he took it.”
“It was clear when he announced his departure, the conversations I had with him, everything on social media, he seemed to be enjoying the holiday, so it was a big surprise.”
